RP'ing Tips:
Here you can find a few RP'ing tips from us judges, that are meant to help beginners(or even pros). These tips are completely general and cover several aspects of RP'ing, so feel free to use 'em: (we will continue the update more and more tips as we go!)
- The life of a superhero and of most super villains are all about the struggle. No one likes to read about a superhero who has it all easy, always winning, never afraid and endlessly-successful; 'cause quite frankly - it's boring
Let your character struggle, let it have a hard time, it helps form its true identity and make everything much more interesting. This struggle is one of the main reasons we invented the "judges", so you won't always be the one to determine what happens, and you won't always be prepared. We will force you to think as you go and struggle - you'll learn to love it. I promise!
- Don't attempt to make your hero/villain - little Mr.(or Ms.) Perfect. Don't always make your hero act out of character just to be perfect at everything(if he's not-social, then don't be social; if he's not smart, then don't be smart, etc). A good character has its flaws and problems - that's what makes it interesting.
A character that knows everything, and is friendly to everyone, perfect at anything it does - is boring. Stick to your character and don't be afraid to fail another character or NPC. Remember, you can always try again - and eventually your character will only become more interesting due to its failures.
- The key to writing good RP'ing paragraphs and stories, is the vision. No, I don't mean that if you're wearing glasses you'd be less good at it ( ), what I mean is that you need a vision of what you're writing.
What I do when I write something, is imagine the scene I'm writing about. I seriously envision how everything around me looks like, how things feel, the smells and sounds; then I take that and use it as the descriptive paragraphs of action and thoughts - in between talking paragraphs. Try it, most chances are you won't be disappointed
- If you want people to understand your posts, make sure to keep one space line between different paragraphs. It helps everything look cleaner and makes it easier to read.
- Do not be afraid to talk to people you don't know. Remember, we are all here to have fun - so just take a risk and try to talk to someone new, most of the times you won't get rejected. And even if you do get rejected it only helps your character's struggle, which I've mentioned before!
- Do not be afraid to ask the mods questions! This is very important, y'all need to remember that! We are here for you, and any question - as dumb as you may think it is, we can answer. And I promise, we(well, most of us) don't bite
